Lazy Weekend

Rowe Show

It may be my job to support local shops, but really - I love them. We have the friendliest, most creative bunch of boutique owners here, and what they do for this community's retail landscape is nothing short of revolutionary. I get giddy every time I visit Bluebird, Letterbox, or Corazon - to name but a few. I think, How great is this place?!? Inside, I'm jumping up and down. In terms of retail as therapy, it's about the experience, not just the buying.

Ode to Costco

Last Saturday morning, while some women are at the gym, getting manis and pedis, or dressing up for a tete-a-tete at the Shoppes of Galleria, I am pounding an Americano at Caribou in preparation for a total mind-and-body-beating at Costco.

This has become a sacred ritual that I complete every few months with my friend, Caitlin. She is willing to drive from St. Paul, and I am willing to get out of bed, for an experience that is consistently both traumatic and deeply satisfying.

My Favorite Thing

Every year, a lucky audience of women (and a few men) cry and scream and speak in tongues when Oprah surprises them with her Favorite Things show. While my husband watches this episode for sport, I take copious notes.

I'm not sure whether to be proud or completely sheepish that I already owned or had gifted at least half of the list already.
