Bryn Mawr’s Bloomsbury Market is a neighborhood favorite

What was once a vacant three-car garage in Byrn Mawr has evolved into one of the most distinctive garden shops in the Metro. Bloomsbury Market, named after the famed English literary circle, was founded by Sotera Tschetter, who created an urban garden shop where neighbors can trickle in, wander about, be inspired, and find interesting pieces.

Now, 13 years later, the space has blossomed, “like a flowering plant,” says co-owner and buyer Linda Beauvais. From ornamental metalwork and interesting pottery to planters, fountains, and birdbaths, Bloomsbury Market strives to bring its customers pieces they won’t find everywhere else—such as hand-thrown tea sets made by a Bulgarian potter.

“It’s a fun, happy place where people come to get and share ideas,” says Beauvais. “I love when people come in and say things like, ‘You know that tomato cage you gave me? Well, I turned it upside-down and hung it on my garage.’” The Bloomsbury Group would be proud.
