Guidelines for Freelance Writers

Ideas should appeal to an educated Minnesota audience. Review any recent issue of the magazine to get a sense of content possibilities, tone, and length.

Queries

A query letter should precede submission of a manuscript. Describe the style of the proposed piece, the perspective or angle, and outline what you’d like to cover. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and, if this is your first query, writing samples.

Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced. Please retain a copy for your reference. On the cover page, list your name, mailing address, daytime phone number, and e-mail address. Manuscripts should be submitted via e-mail to the assigning editor.
